Reduce the number of production orders by “Phantoms” in the Bill of Material

Written by Irene Nuijten on . Posted in Exact Globe

Manufacturing companies want to keep the production processes simple and clear. The use of phantoms can help to achieve this. The number of suborders reduces while the BOM structure remains.

By using phantoms the same base components can be used in different BOMs of end products.  This without having these components on stock or producing them yourself.

When creating the production order for the end product, the line with the condition “phantom” is replaced by the BOM of the item. The BOMs of the end products therefore remain simple and clear, since they consist of standard components. While for the actual production of all those components no separate suborders will be created.
