Next to the Net weight, Country of origin and Statistical code it will become possible to register the Gross weight of an item. The Gross weight is the weight of the item including packaging materials and can be used when in need of reporting the total weight of the item including packaging materials next to the net weight of the item. Presenting the Gross weight next to the Net weight of products can be requested by carriers and by customs for international shipments

In scenarios where lowering the sales price of a product or some products in a Quotation or Sales order is needed to make the sale, it is important to have direct insight in the margin you are expected to make. In a competitive environment one cannot always stick to the list price, still it remains important to retain healthy margins and when not, then let it be a conscious decision to give some on the short term in order to gain or retain a long term relationship with your customer.
Serial numbers are used to identify a unique product. It is used for equipment, electrical components and consumer goods, from a forklift-truck, laptops, smartphones to e.g. bicycles and for various reasons. A serial number can determine the origin of the product, can be used to check the (service) history of a product and whether or not a warranty is applicable.
Online sales often starts with an advance payment. Payment Service Providers, who facilitate an electronic payment when submitting selected products from out of a shopping cart in a webshop, provide a reference that can be used for matching incoming statements after delivering the goods and processing the sale.
Currently such a reference can be stored in a sales order, but is lacking a dedicated place to be used to optimize the matching process. Exact Online will soon offer a dedicated place for a payment reference in a Sales order, that will be transferred via Goods delivery to a Sales invoice and an Outstanding item in the Financial administration where it can easily be recognized and matched with statements coming in.
This functionality is expected to become available within Sales orders in the coming weeks for customers using Exact Online Wholesale Distribution and Exact Online Manufacturing. Customers using an Exact Online Accounting edition that includes Sales invoices will be able to add a payment reference in the Sales invoice.
Catch the opportunity at the moment it happens. That is basically the key value add of having a possibility for you as a sales representative to directly “write” the order at the customer site after the confirmation that the products presented via the item catalog are matching your customer needs.
In the Exact Online iPad app, which is already standard available for Exact Online users and covers a wide range of capabilities, it will soon become possible to create a sales order, directly send a confirmation via e-mail and view sales orders and their status in a very intuitive manner. Business benefits:

Sales order entry via your iPad will become available within the coming weeks in Exact Online Wholesale Distribution and Exact Online Manufacturing.
Within Exact Online you can work with multiple warehouses and define a storage location for an item. Beneficial for all companies with a large assortment that need to manage inventory and want to optimize the routing for order picking and give guidance to both new and temporary warehouse staff to do their job in an efficient manner.
Optimize utilization of within a warehouse
When using storage locations for structure and picking purposes, any item that does not fit into a designated bin or location needs to be stored on an alternative location. In practice often the top shelve or a generic location is used as bulk location and items are simply replenished when the picking bin is empty.
Although not always applicable, it can become more efficient to work with registration of variable storage locations for items in a warehouse.
In a more complex warehouse environment where goods are received in bulk or have specific characteristics that require more advanced storage allocation methods, it becomes interesting from both a handling and utilization perspective to start registering and managing items at variable storage locations.
The other side of the medal is that it requires strict registration and discipline when handling goods within a warehouse and insight in where goods are stored. For us a trigger to identify pains, gather customer requirements and start developing a solution for it.
As mentioned above, it is alread possible to link an item to a location and pick orders from this location in Exact Online. Managing items via multiple storage locations however will become part of Exact Online Wholesale Distribution Premium. A new Exact Online product for Wholesale Distributors that will include functionality for planning and process optimization.
Storage and managing of items on multiple variable locations in a warehouse will become available in a controlled release later this year.
