Multi-divisional Products and Services.

Written by Richard Smits on . Posted in Exact Globe, Exact Synergy

Central master data management for Accounts is available .  Now company wide compliance for products and services is in scope.

Control over items is more than just identification of the items over multiple divisions.

Having a corporate standard on items does not mean that a local division can not create or  maintain items. What should be taken into account is the fact that the comply with corporate standards. Besides that it can well be that a division offers only a selection of the overall product portfolio based on market focus or knowledge level. Within the item portfolio stock values or pricing can well differ per division. It enables managing the product life cycle on a divisional level as well as companywide optimization of usage and handling of products and services.

If you want to share your ideas, want to meet us, want to be one of the first to work with the solution, or any other way of participation, please let me know.

Do you:
• face this issue?
• what is your biggest issue?
• know customers facing this?
• how do they currently handle this?
• have any other ideas/remarks

Central master data – First visuals

Written by Richard Smits on . Posted in Exact Globe, Exact Synergy

In a previous blog post ‘Central master data’ I promised to share the first visuals on the prototype! As it’s a prototype, the visuals can deviate from the future/final version.

As explained in the previous blog on this topic,  we decided to start with “accounts” . Exact Synergy Enterprise is facilitating  the central place to create and modify accounts. The master data is synchronized with all Exact Globe divisions that have a relationship with the account.

When you create a new customer, the account looks like this:Account card – Divisions section

The Divisions section is new. In this section you can immediately see which Divisions are linked to this account. Besides the division you can see the debtor code of the division. These debtor codes can differ per division. When selecting a Division the Division specific data for this specific account becomes visible and editable.

The division specific data card, previously only displayed information of a single division.  The first functionality we added is the possibility to maintain account data per division. We extended this screen with fields which normally could only be defined for all Divisions. So for example, the account manager of this specific account could be defined, but it was not possible to define  a different account manager per division.Central access to division specific data

Maintaining  Account master data for multiple divisions centrally means that all back office (Exact Globe) related data should be made available in Exact Synergy Enterprise. This means that the second step was to be able to maintain back office data per division. This will avoid that a user that creates or links an account to a division and then has to complete the data in the individual back office administration. Information like VAT codes, Payment conditions or  Price lists can well differ per division.

These are the first visuals, I will share more soon via this Product Blog.

Your comments will be highly appreciated!

How to maintain your master data centrally?

Written by Richard Smits on . Posted in Exact Globe, Exact Synergy

Companies with multiple divisions are having a big challenge to maintain their master data consistent and up-to-date. If you are not able to handle it centrally, it will become very hard to colloborate between divisions, and  reporting on group level will become a challenge. Furthermore correcting master data is a time-consuming activity.

Most heard master data, customers would like to manage centrally are:
• Accounts
• Resources
• Items
• G/L accounts

Exact started to investigate what challenges these type of companies are currently facing and how we can support our customers with managing their master data centrally.

Do you:
• face this issue?
• what is your biggest issue?
• know customers facing this?
• how do they currently handle this?
• have any other ideas/remarks

This is the first blog post about support of multi-divisional companies and we will update you regularly via the product blog.

Your comments will be highly appreciated!

Central master data

Written by Richard Smits on . Posted in Exact Globe, Exact Synergy

In a previous blog post How to maintain your master data centrally?, I asked feedback about central master data management. Is this a big issue at this moment, and what challenges are you facing. As you can see at the previous blog post, quite some replies where posted. So I would like to thank everyone for sharing their feedback.

All feedback on this topic confirmed our assumptions, accounts and secondly items are the most important master data, to be maintained centrally. That’s why we decided to start with accounts and aim on creating a prototype, so we can share and discuss the direction we are heading for. The prototype is based on Exact Synergy Enterprise (ESE), and multiple Exact Globe (EG) divisions.

Currently, at maintain Accounts in ESE you can define only a debtor code on divisional level:

We started adding fields to the Division ‘tab’, so it is possible to define different data for the specific divisions. For example, it will be possible to define on Divisional level  who will be the manager of this account.

The exchange of the data will be done by Exact’s connectivity framework. As explained in this blog post Connecting Exact with other applications, exchanging data via XML is not the solution to establish easy, standard connections between Exact’s applications and/or other applications. The main reason is that those possibilities are not standardized and /or do not work real-time.

In my next blog I aim on sharing the first visuals on the prototype!

If you have any questions/remarks or you would like to share topics we definitely should take into account concerning maintain/exchange accounts, do not hesitate to reply to this Post.
