Insight into margin when negotiating a sale!

Written by Jaap Jan de Lange on . Posted in Exact Online

In scenarios where lowering the sales price of a product or some products in a Quotation or Sales order is needed to make the sale, it is important to have direct insight in the margin you are expected to make. In a competitive environment one cannot always stick to the list price, still it remains important to retain healthy margins and when not, then let it be a conscious decision to give some on the short term in order to gain or retain a long term relationship with your customer.

Serial numbers are used to identify a unique product. It is used for equipment, electrical components and consumer goods, from a forklift-truck, laptops, smartphones to e.g. bicycles and for various reasons. Generate Delivery notes for a selection of Sales orders in one go!

Wholesale Distributors that are processing high volumes of (small) sales orders that are entered based on availability of products might want to generate delivery notes for multiple orders in one go. Think about companies that process orders that have been entered via a B2B or B2C Web shop, where they are only accepted when sufficient products are available.

Avoid stock quantities from going NEGATIVE in Exact Online.

In a world where customer service is key you must be able to rely on the number of products on stock when making commitments towards your customers. Regular counting of products in your warehouse will for sure help, but differences are not always noted in time. It is therefore that Exact Online will soon also enable you to block any delivery of products when it would lead to a negative quantity in stock. As stock levels can physically not become negative it is a true indicator that the system is out of sync with reality.

Register product weight including packaging materials at “Gross weight” per item.

Next to the Net weight, Country of origin and Statistical code it will become possible to register the Gross weight of an item. The Gross weight is the weight of the item including packaging materials and can be used when in need of reporting the total weight of the item including packaging materials next to the net weight of the item. Presenting the Gross weight next to the Net weight of products can be requested by carriers and by customs for international shipments

Improved insight in your sales process

Off course you want to serve your customer the best possible way. This does not end at the moment of a committed sale. An order and sometimes a quote needs to be processed the right way to meet the expectations that have been set while making the sale. The right price, the right quantity and on time. A sales process includes multiple activities. A clear and quick understanding in the overall sales process steps is key and all details should be at your fingertips.

Improved matching of advance payments when processing (online) sales orders.

Written by Jaap Jan de Lange on . Posted in Exact Online

Online sales often starts with an advance payment. Payment Service Providers, who facilitate an electronic payment when submitting selected products from out of a shopping cart in a webshop, provide a reference that can be used for matching incoming statements after delivering the goods and processing the sale.

Currently such a reference can be stored in a sales order, but is lacking a dedicated place to be used to optimize the matching process. Exact Online  will soon offer a dedicated place for a payment reference in a Sales order, that will be transferred via Goods delivery to a Sales invoice and an Outstanding item in the Financial administration where it can easily be recognized and matched with statements coming in.

This functionality is expected to become available within Sales orders in the coming weeks for customers using Exact Online Wholesale Distribution and Exact Online Manufacturing. Customers using an Exact Online Accounting edition that includes Sales invoices will be able to add a payment reference in the Sales invoice.
