The shop orders in Exact for Manufacturing allow for four types of material management transactions: material issues, product receipts, by-product receipts and issues to parent (a suborder that yields a subassembly to a parent order). All these transactions are now supported by REST API endpoints. Moreover, for each of these transactions a reversal process is supported by the API as well. These REST APIs allow developers to execute material management transactions from within their own apps.
Types of manufacturing material management transactions supported
Four types of manufacturing material management transactions are supported:
Endpoint MaterialIssues: Issuing of materials from inventory to the shop order
Endpoint ShopOrderReceipts: Receiving of product from the shop order into inventory
Endpoint ByProductReceipts: Receiving of by-product from the shop order into inventory
Endpoint SubOrderReceipts: Receiving of product from a suborder to a parent shop order
These REST APIs, dependent on the edition of Exact for Manufacturing where they are used in, support multiple warehouses and serial/batch numbers (Advanced), and multiple storage locations (Premium).
Currently, no REST APIs are available to support purchase materials on the shop order and purchase subcontracts.
Reversals of manufacturing material management transactions supported
Four types of manufacturing material management reversal transactions are supported:
Endpoint MaterialReversals: Returning of materials from the shop order to inventory
Endpoint ShopOrderReversals: Returning of product from inventory to the shop order
Endpoint ByProductReversals: Returning of by-product from inventory to the shop order
Endpoint SubOrderReversals: Returning of product from a parent shop order to the suborder
These endpoints are valuable to developers that build shop floor apps (manufacturing execution systems, MES), warehouse management systems (WMS), quality management systems (QMS) and interfaces with smart machines (Industrial Internet of Things).
