Material availability signal on the shop order

Common attention points before a shop order is released to the floor include a check on the availability of capacity, and a check on the availability of the material. For the material we differentiate between order controlled materials (those that we need to purchase for this shop order), and non-order controlled materials (those that we issue from stock and replenish based on re-order policies). Material is available if the order controlled materials have been received, and if we have sufficient stock of non-order controlled materials.

Enhancement: material availability signal in the notification area

The notification area on the shop order card has been enhanced with a signal for Material shortage or Material available. The signal Material available is shown when order controlled materials have been received, and when stocks of non-order controlled materials are higher than the requirements of this shop order.

Enhancement: material availability signal in the lines

A signal in the material lines of the shop order identifies which materials have an issue. In the below example we see that non-order controlled materials with insufficient stock have an issue, and all order controlled materials that have not been received, regardless whether we have stocks.

In the above example we see that there are order controlled materials required in this shop order that are serial/batch or on backflush. Both these situations should be avoided: A purchase receipt of a serial/batch item cannot be automatically issued to the shop order because we need to register the exact batch, and material on backflush should by definition not be purchased on the shop order. See for more information also: A short guide on order controlled items.

Enhancement: material availability signal in print shop paper overview

As the availability of material may be a precondition for printing the shop paper, we have added the material availability signal to the print shop paper overview:

Multiple lines with the same material

In the circumstance that multiple lines of non-order controlled materials are requiring the same item, the material availability signal in the notification area is based on the total requirement. However, the material availability signal in the lines may not be shown, as in the below example:

These enhancements have been released to all editions of Exact Online Manufacturing in all countries in July 2015. More information with Pieter Hamans, pieter.hamans@exact.com
