Integration with Exact: ELIS – Where are we now?

Written by Michiel van Rooijen on . Posted in Exact Globe, Exact Synergy

As announced earlier ELIS is currently in controlled release.

ELIS is a new technical framework for the integration between Exact Globe Next and Exact Synergy Enterprise and supports solutions that exchange data between these two products and possible third-party solutions.

Via an included control center you can centrally install, activate and manage these solutions (such as Exact Integration, CMDM, Shop Floor Control, Word Merge, Exchange Integration). This all is possible including central and pro-active logging which means that you can manage all integrations from one central location and send them again if errors occur. ELIS even offers the possibility to receive a notification by e-mail our in your workflow, so you can take action immediately.

Also partners are enabled to base integration solutions on this framework to benefit from the built-in functionality and central manageability.

Based on the positive results of the controlled release phase so far, we expect that ELIS including the solutions Exact Integration, Shop Floor Control and Word Merge, will be generally available by the end of this month.

For people who can’t wait it’s still possible to sign up for the controlled release program. This can be done by sending an e-mail to productreadiness@exact.com.

Please refer to the Fact Sheet for more information about the controlled release program.

For more information about ELIS, please see the start page: Getting started with Exact Lightweight Integration Server (ELIS).

Service Management movie

Service Management: Planning a job

Written by Robin den Buurman on . Posted in Exact Globe, Exact Synergy

Exact is currently developing a new Service Management solution. The development team has created this video to give you a preview about what you can expect from the solution which will be available soon.

Dispatching of service activities

Assigning the right engineer to a service activity is essential in service organizations. Aspects such as availability, skills and stock on hand are the instruments a planner or helpdesk employee can use in making sure the right engineer is planned for the job. We looked at the gaps that customers experience in the current plan board of Field Service in Exact Synergy ASP and used these to design and develop a completely new plan board. This plan board helps you to solve issues like separating backlog from planned activities, filter on resource and activity-related constraints, and makes it easy to assign or reassign service activities to one or more engineer.

Feedback is highly appreciated!

Note: We are still developing and improving this solution, the shown solution can differ from the actual delivered solution.

Change regarding the product updates that are available for download

Written by Michiel van Rooijen on . Posted in Exact Globe, Exact Synergy

When performing an update of Exact Globe Next and Exact Synergy Enterprise you have the possibility to select the product update you want to install.

The availability of the older product updates causes confusion among customers our who perform an update. Because there is little demand for the old product updates and they are not up-to-date in terms of legislation and regulations, in line with our Terms and Conditions as of now only the last five product updates are available for download.

At the moment the following product updates are available for Exact Globe Next: 404, 405, 406, 407 and 408. For Exact Synergy Enterprise the following product updates are available 249, 250, 251, 252 and 253.

Older product updates are no longer available for download, but are available on request. For more information about requesting an older product update, see this document on our customer portal.

Exact Configurator – How we will handle support

Written by Bob Heinen on . Posted in Exact Synergy

Hi,

As I stated in my previous blog, I would come back to how we are planning to handle the support on the Exact Configurator tool, but also on how we will handle the support on  configured solutions.

The actual tool will of course be supported by our regular support department. This is support on how the tool works, not on creating your solution.

Questions support can answer are questions like “How do I create an entity?”.
They will not be able to answer questions like “I have a customer that has a notary firm, what entities will I need to support his process?”.
For these kinds of questions we have created a LinkedIn group, in which consultants across the border and across resellers can ask eachother on how one would create a solution for a process. (Exact Certified Configurator Consultants (E-3C))

Now, lets suppose one of our Exact (certified) partners has configured a solution for a customer in which he has extended the itemcard and created a new field on there that is called “Car” and refers to his own created entity “Cars”.

Since the configured software looks and behaves like standard software the customer is not aware of the fact that he has a configured solution installed and calls the Exact Support department because some kind of error is occurring on his itemcard.
Our support department currently would not know that this customer has a configured solution and will deny this customer support because in our standard software the field “Car” doesn’t even exist.

This would create a disappointed customer (he is not helped) and a frustrated support department (they can’t help this customer).

In order to capture this situation we have come up with the following solution. When a consultant deploys a solution, ready for customer use e.g. live implementation, the configurator software will start up a registration screen on the reseller portal.

In this screen we require the consultant to register the customer account, a brief description of the configured solution and an agreement to the general terms of Exact.

This will result into a request created in the Exact Database so that support can see that this customer has a configuration, by whom the configuration was created and can refer them to the support desk of the reseller.

The same process will apply for Exact Consultants who configure a solution. In the same way of creating Custom Solutions, the exact consultants are responsible for bringing back the configured solution to Exact and storing this so that the Exact Support department can refer this customer to the respective consultant, so that the customer will be helped.

Should you have any questions about this solution, do not hesitate to contact me at ruud.aalders@exact.com or add comments to this post.

Service Management

Service Management: Selling goods so you can service them quickly later!

Written by Robin den Buurman on . Posted in Exact Globe, Exact Synergy

Exact is currently developing a new Service Management solution. The development team has created this video to give you a preview about what you can expect from the solution which will be available soon.

Need for speed when creating service requests

When creating a service request you have to deal with different situations. Most of the time the information provided is very limited and response time is critical. This movie gives a first impression of the usability aspect we can offer when dealing with incoming requests for service.

Generate Service configurations and activities from sales orders

In the current situation it is a separate manual step to make a service configuration visible for the service organization and to create service-related activities that come with the delivery of such items. Service configurations and service activities, such as installation activities, can now be generated directly from the Exact Globe sales process. A good example of cross-disciplinary integration that drives efficiency for companies that service the products they sell.

Feedback is highly appreciated!

Note: We are still developing and improving this solution, the shown solution can differ from the actual delivered solution.
