Pivot analysis provides a powerful tool to analyze information. With pivot analysis, you can filter out the data you are interested in and sort it by different criteria. In Exact Synergy Enterprise product update 248 we have introduced the possibility to save templates for opportunity pivot analysis.

In Exact Synergy Enterprise product update 248 (general available) we have improved the ease of use and speed of Exact Synergy Office Integration. We have also took a direct customer feedback into consideration which resulted in the following improvements. As of now Synergy Office Integration allows you to automatically save emails from certain folders directly to Exact Synergy Enterprise, based on a template set for those folders. You also have a possibility to deactivate option of automatic mapping of a contact person when saving an email. Moreover, Synergy Office Integration has been enhanced with numerous features, such as option to save multiple emails at once and pop-up notification to ask user to save an outgoing email.

When you are using the Exact Integration solution you sometimes want to to re-send your data from Exact Synergy Enterprise to Exact Globe vice versa. As previously stated you can do this in the background monitor by hitting the re-send button for selected messages.

We also supply you with a tool that can re-send your data based on the entities and the ‘date last modified’.

In your installation folder of Exact Integration (p.e. c:\program files\exact software\exact integration\synchronization framework\bin) you can start up an executable called SendToQueue.exe. This tool allows you to select the entity that you want to re-send and from which date.

This tool makes use of the Integration solution that uses the Web Services on Exact Synergy Enterprise and Entity Windows Services on Exact Globe to exchange data between the two products.

In the upper part of the screen you enter your connection settings, after pressing the button connect, it will fill your list with entities that are currently supported. These settings will be automatically pre-filled based upon your installation of Exact Integration. Please note that you have to point to the services directory when you use the web address.

In the options section you can either select synchronize from ESE (Exact Synergy Enterprise) to Exact Globe or from EG (Exact Globe) to Exact Synergy Enterprise.

With the date filters you can select your range based on the modified data.

In the entities section you can select the entities you want to re-synchronize. You can set the priority with the buttons on the right side of the selected entitiy. When you press the button ‘Retrieve to queue’ the synchronization will be started. Ultimately on the right you can see the progress of your entities selected.

When you decide to use this tool please bare in mind that it’s best to synchronize entities on an individual basis and that you schedule this outside of business hours so that there is no interference with your normal daily activities. And of course we recommend that you make a backup of your database before you start this process so that you can always go back to the situation you had and you don’t loose any valuable information.

When the process in completed you can view the results in your background monitor.

And for the technical people amongst us, you can also view this on a database level in SQL via the following query.

Environments are getting more and more complex these days. As a system administrator you see yourself faced with many challenges of keeping important data up to date in all enviroments.

As Exact we have two main products which are many times seen in one enviroment. Exact Synergy Enterprise for your front office, web browser application and Exact Globe as your back office system.

Of course you want to keep your data in line between Exact Globe and Exact Synergy Enterprise and you don’t want to run extensive scripts to keep your data synchronized.

We anticipated this situation and released the product of Exact Integration. This product basically communicates between Exact Synergy Enterprise and Exact Globe, keeping the data aligned.

However, since these are two different products with their own history, often they have their own validation to make sure the individual product data is guaranteed.

As Exact Integration communicates between the two main products the data entered in each system will be validated by both products. And sometimes, data entered into one product does not meet the requirements for the other product.

In order to facilitate in keeping your data entry correct, we have created a background monitor which allows you to see the results of the validation, enabling you to correct this data and keep the data between the products synchronized.

In the System-Report-Background Monitor menu in Exact Synergy Enterprise the administrator can see the results and take action if necessary.

In this monitor you see, besides the failed synchronization, also when your synchronization went well. The results are consolidated from your middleware database that you have created upon installation of Exact Integration.

Over last year we’ve been busy developing Central Master Data Management solution (CMDM) that allows you to create a structured process for entering and maintaining information at a central location. As a result, you have a clear overview of your entire organization’s information that can be used for company-wide decision making. With each product update we enabled CMDM for additional entities within the software. CMDM already supports accounts, items and general ledger accounts, and as of Exact Globe product update 403 and Exact Synergy Enterprise product update 248 you can also centrally manage people.

Lately I have been receiving questions about the supported versions in combination with Exact Integration. From that perspective I thought it would be good to address that we have documentation on this available to all customers.

The support matrix of Exact Integration is available not only through searching the web, it is also added to your start menu when you install Exact Integration.

The Help link guides you to the support matrix so you can check the supported versions from your computer.

When you are configuring Exact Integration, there is also a link to the support matrix in the configuration screen. In the Help, About Exact Integration menu, you will also be guided to the support matrix.

So, how to continue when you perform an update?

As of release 247 the services are no longer installed through Exact Integration. This means that when you update from 246 to 247 you will need to uninstall Exact Integration first, then perform update of your Exact Synergy Enterprise environment and re-install Exact Integration.

The reason for this is that the msi of Exact Integration for versions lower than 247 will uninstall your services. If you have updated your Exact Synergy Enterprise before uninstalling your Exact Integration, those services will be uninstalled from your environment and the msi for Exact Integration compatible with release 247 will NOT re-install those services.

Therefore the correct order of updating is:
1. Un-install Exact Integration. (This will un-install your services)
2. Update Exact Synergy Enterprise. (This will install those services)
3. Install the 247 version of Exact Integration. (It assumes that the services are already installed through Exact Synergy Enterprise)

It has been around 2 months now that Exact Integration has been released. I am sure you are curious to know what we have been doing in the past 2 months and what our plans are for the near future.

In the recently released Exact Synergy Enterprise 247 we have focused on our customer feedback, but we also implemented some new features.

We have created a monitor that watches your services on your server. So that you don’t get surprises that data is not synchronized because one of your services isn’t running.

As of release 247 it is now possible to restore your database and the databases will be synchronized. In order to realize this, a new service will be installed on your server, the Exact Service Monitor. This service will check your Exact Globe and Exact Synergy Enterprise database as you have defined in your configuration screen.
In your configuration screen you can set the interval (in minutes) on which this service checks for a restore.
This service requires the user credentials given in the configuration since it needs access to your server and database.
However, we were not able to apply restoring of database over a batch update, so it’s very important that you always have a recent back-up of your database.

Furthermore we have provided a small matrix that shows you on what release of Exact Synergy Enterprise and Exact Globe, Exact Integration is supported and what version of Exact Integration you are currently using. This link is available in your startup menu in Windows, as well as in your configuration screen.

On a technical level, all services needed for Exact Integration are now deployed through Exact Synergy Enterprise and Exact Globe installation.

For the coming releases we have plans to merge Central Master Data Management and Exact Integration into one solution, this will enable you to have the extra functionality of Central Master Data Management as well as all the benefits of Exact Integration.

As result, we will be releasing more and more entities on a scenario of multiple databases in the coming year.

As of today, Exact Synergy Enterprise product update 247 is generally available. This marks the end of controlled release period which started in the end of August.

Based on customers’ feedback, we have focused on multiple developments in the following license roles: Exact Synergy user, Employee Self-Service, Incoming Invoice Register and users with CRM role (video). For the customers who make use of Exact Synergy Office Integration we have introduced calendar management that allows you to link your project, account and contact to your appointment you create in MS Outlook (video). Moreover, as of this product update quotations are now fully integrated with Exact Globe, so the item information can be retrieved from Exact Globe and you can now select a division to be linked to your quotation.

All Exact Synergy Enterprise users who work with the standard functionality can now switch to the new Exact Synergy design that includes new features, such as customizable dashboards and enhanced mega menus navigation. Furthermore, the Exact Synergy Enterprise PSA solution make it now possible to plan people against a deadline and register costs of approved hours and expenses in Exact Globe.

Exact Integration launched in August has now new features, such as supporting the batch update of items and restoring database. To follow earlier introduction of Central Master Data Management for accounts and items, as of this product update it is possible to centrally manage General Ledger accounts (video).

Based on a direct customer feedback, we have also implemented a number of small enhancements, among others:

• Directly set status of project during creation
• Set opportunity status from Won to Undecided
• Full name of users displayed in timestamp
• New criteria to search for opportunities

The Exact Globe database will be available as of product update 402 (soon general available). Please note that the Dutch Exact Globe database is already available as of product update 401.
