Over last year we’ve been busy developing Central Master Data Management solution (CMDM) that allows you to create a structured process for entering and maintaining information at a central location. As a result, you have a clear overview of your entire organization’s information that can be used for company-wide decision making. With each product update we enabled CMDM for additional entities within the software. CMDM already supports accounts, items and general ledger accounts, and as of Exact Globe product update 403 and Exact Synergy Enterprise product update 248 you can also centrally manage people.

When you receive a file with the new item codes from your supplier, you can update your items in one go. The batch update functionality is best used for this purpose.
In product update 401, the batch update functionality has been enhanced. You can maintain your ‘supplier’s item code’ and update the information automatically using batch updates.

Let’s take an example:

Supplier 60120 Roode Pelikaan send a list with new item codes. Via maintain items, you can use the batch update functionality. Select the supplier, mark the check box ‘Supplier’s item code’ and press ‘Show list’:

Adjust the column ‘New’ with the new item codes received from your supplier. After adjusting the item code(s) you can update by pressing the ‘Exact Globe: Update’ button.

All adjustment items are updated and ready to be used

As of today, Exact Globe product update 402 is generally available which marks the end of controlled release period which started in the end of August.

With our customers in mind, we have extended Exact Globe with features that make it easier for them to fulfill legal requirements and business standards, such as taxation changes for Germany, Switzerland and Thailand as well as reporting features in Vietnamese Accounting Standards.

 Exact Globe product update 402 also introduces the Exact Visual Scheduler to facilitate the work of the production planner in a manufacturing company. It gives you a visual insight in your schedule and reduces the time spent in rescheduling operations. Production orders can be scheduled automatically using finite or infinite capacity. It is easy to spot capacity overload or to see if there is still room to maneuver. You can easily reschedule operations by dragging and dropping an individual operation or sequence of operations. The dates in the underlying operations are changed immediately, as the Exact Visual Scheduler is fully integrated into Exact Globe. This will significantly reduce time spent in handling production order changes, especially when working with suborders. Control of your schedule will furthermore improve control over material flows. Please note that the Exact Visual Scheduler is currently in extended controlled release (video).

As of this product update the functionality of SKU Management is in extended controlled release. SKU Management lets you tag a stock unit in your warehouse with an unique number (video). Also the Exact Integration which is generally available as of August, has new features in this product update, such as supporting the batch update of items and restoring database. To follow the previous announcements in which we introduced Central Master Data Management that supports accounts and items, as of this product update you can centrally manage General Ledgers between Exact Globe and Exact Synergy Enterprise (video).

Based on our customers’ needs we have implemented in this product update, among others, the following new features:

• Managing payment days for your creditors
• New period-date calendar menu path
• Interactive balance functionality enhanced
• Unbalanced trial balances by cost centers

Central master data management for Accounts is available .  Now company wide compliance for products and services is in scope.

Control over items is more than just identification of the items over multiple divisions.    

Having a corporate standard on items does not mean that a local division can not create or  maintain items. What should be taken into account is the fact that the comply with corporate standards. Besides that it can well be that a division offers only a selection of the overall product portfolio based on market focus or knowledge level. Within the item portfolio stock values or pricing can well differ per division. It enables managing the product life cycle on a divisional level as well as companywide optimization of usage and handling of products and services.

It’s time for an Update on Central Master Data Management

As explained in the previous blog posts, we decided to start with “accounts”. In the previous months we further extended the functionality of Central Master Data Management (CMDM) for Accounts.

Some of the adjustments are:

• Browse Exact Globe data at the central environment
• Improved user interface of the division specific data screen
• Division specific data screen now customizable

On behalf of the Product Management team, I am pleased to inform you that as of January 6 Exact Globe product update 400 is generally available.

In this product update, next to the small enhancements based on feedback received from customers, we have focused on the year-end adjustments in the regional legislation and therefore we have included new functionalities that are crucial to your operations and will facilitate your business. Moreover, as of this product update Exact Globe supports SEPA direct debit schemes, so you can easily generate B2C and B2B national and cross-border euro direct debits in compliance with SEPA rules.

Additionally, we would like to inform you that the Central Master Data Management, which supports companies with multiple divisions in centrally maintaining information, is currently in the extended controlled release.

Incoterms or International Commercial terms are a series of international sales terms widely used in international commercial transactions. These are accepted by governments, legal authorities and practitioners worldwide for the interpretation of most commonly used terms in international trade.

As of January 1, 2011 the eighth edition, Incoterms 2010, have effect. The changes therein affect all of the five terms previously listed in section D, which are now obsoleted and replaced with these three: DAT (Delivered at Terminal), DAP (Delivered at Place), and DDP (Delivered Duty Paid). The new terms apply to all modes of transport.

Within Exact Globe, users can create, delete, activate and maintain incoterms themselves. The incoterms can be linked to the suppliers to be used for defaulting. Next to this you will be able to select the incoterms during entry of the purchase order or the Return to Vendor (RTV) order. Of course the incoterm can be used throughout the complete process after entry, like printing on purchase layout, displaying at the purchase history overview and during XML import/export.
