Every company and persons within that company have different needs for data analysis compared to other companies and persons. That’s why in globe there is a very usefull tool: the financial pivot analyis.

A financial pivot analysis is an interactive analysis summary, which enables you to visualize the actual financial information rapidly and effectively. You can present the data of your choice in the exact way you want, with several options for grouping and specifying the requested information. In addition to visualizing the data of a single administration, the function also allows you to compare financial details between different administrations. Based on these comparisons, you can generate an analysis report according to your preferences.

In this movie you will see how you can use this powerful tool.

We hope you enjoy this Globe tip. Stay tuned because there are more in the works which will be available shortly.

I am investigating the current user interface and want to share some of the current options and challenges. The focus of this article is on the use of process flows in the user interface of Exact Globe.

As an Exact Globe Product Manager I am investigating the current user interface and want to share some of the current options and challenges.

In Exact Globe you have several options to make your own process flows in the main menu. Using these options helps to focus on the things that are most important or frequently used and to have a visual insight into the process you are performing. The visual process flow of individual orders is widely used, the process flow in the menu is used less. What is the cause of this and can we improve the user experience here?

Maybe the most well known process flow in Exact Globe is the sales order process flow for a single order:

It gives you relevant information of the flow of the sales order in an intuitive way. This flow is shown standard in several entry and overview applications.

Exact Globe also offers the possibility to organize your work on the main menu level into flows that are relevant for your daily work. The most well known of these is the role bar and it is mostly used in combination with the panel menu. It is situated to the left of the main panel menu:

You can define several process flows, in the example you have the logistic flow, finance and reports. The main part of the menu is still the function based menu with the functional tabs and access to all menu paths per function.

Another way of working is the explorer menu where you have your complete functional menu to the left and can create process flows in the central part of the menu:

Experience tells us that the possibilities to show process flows in Exact Globe are not widely used. The following are 4 statements that may explain why and possible enhancements to the user interface. I am very interested to hear from you if they are correct:

What is often seen is that people use the default screens and settings. Could the user experience be improved when Exact offers standard role based or industry specific templates for these process flows?

Another reason can be the limited flexibility in creating the process flows: At the moment you can only add menu paths from either top to bottom or left to right. Could the user experience be improved by the ability to show multiple flows grouped in one overview?

An opportunity for process flows is the integration with Exact Synergy. When using Synergy and Exact Globe you often have processes that require both products. Wouldn’t it be great if you could see this flow from one screen?

The advantage of showing the menu in a process flow is that you have instant visual insight into the specific process flows that you as a user are responsible for. Could the usability be improved if you had a direct insight into the KPI’s of this flow in the same screen?

Of course I am also very interested in your experience with the current user interface and possible enhancements you see!

As of product update 395 the reporting engine for Exact Globe will be Crystal reports XI. Read how this may impact you and what we did to make the upgrade as easy as possible.

As of product update 395 the reporting engine for Exact Globe will be Crystal reports XI. From the start of Exact Globe the reporting engine used was Crystal reports 8.5. With this upgrade we and all e-report users can make use of all the new features in Crystal reports XI like dynamic and cascading prompts, HTML preview, dynamic image location, editable RTF format and intelligent charting. This upgrade also ensures we are up to date with the new technology in Crystal reports and users can be sure they are working on a version that is also supported by Crystal reports in the future.

The upgrade process to the new version is very simple for the standard reports in Exact Globe: just update the normal way and all standard reports are upgraded to the new report engine.

All users of e-report, the module that provides the abilty to create your own Crystal reports in Globe, will have their own customized reports. We have developed a simple tool to convert these reports to Crystal XI in one go, you just need to know in which folder you keep your own reports:

Crystal reports is one of the most used professional reporting tool. So users without e-report in Exact Globe may still have Crystal reports provided to them via consultants, solution providers, custom solutions etcetera. When these reports make use of the report engine in Exact Globe these reports have to be converted also. Again the same tool can be used, without the need of installing a copy of Crystal reports.

Upgrading to new technology can be a challenge but with this upgrade we think we have made it as simple as possible!
