In Exact Synergy Enterprise product update 248 (general available) we have improved the ease of use and speed of Exact Synergy Office Integration. We have also took a direct customer feedback into consideration which resulted in the following improvements. As of now Synergy Office Integration allows you to automatically save emails from certain folders directly to Exact Synergy Enterprise, based on a template set for those folders. You also have a possibility to deactivate option of automatic mapping of a contact person when saving an email. Moreover, Synergy Office Integration has been enhanced with numerous features, such as option to save multiple emails at once and pop-up notification to ask user to save an outgoing email.

A lot of our customers use the CRM user, a user license role which offers you a lot of functionality against a good price.

The number of companies using the CRM user in their license grows rapidly. With these new customers on board, we’ve received a lot of valuable feedback on how the CRM users is being used in daily business. It opens up opportunities to even further improve the CRM user. So, we did!

As of Exact Synergy Enterprise product update 248 (General available January 2012) the CRM user will have full functionality available in the CRM (customer) module. In this module the CRM user will have the same functionality available as the professional user . This means that:

- All accounts, opportunities and quotations are visible, based on the rights set in the system.
- All account types can be created and maintained, based on the rights set in the system

Function rights are used to give a user more functionality. Over a 60 function rights are available for the CRM user, which will give him additional privileges, like sending a mailing to a group of customers and edit all opportunities within his group.

Other improvements are:

- View all requests on all places where the user has access. An example is that the CRM user can view the workflow of his colleagues and view all requests that are linked to a project.
- Delegate your work when you are out of the office.
- As of product update 249 we will introduce a possibility for a CRM user to view all projects or only the projects of which he is a member.

Version 1.1 of the iPhone app is out. Download it from the App Store NOW! For our Exact Product Blog readers we’ll describe below how to activate the sneak preview of the dashboard functionality on your iPhone or iPad. You can find more details below.

Version 1.1 is a result of big improvements, which at first sight are not always visible. After the update, your app will still look the same.

Some nice improvements which are done based on direct customer feedback are:

• Add your time stamp in your workflow remarks.
• The handling of time off has been improved, to make it clear for you that your time off has been submitted and is waiting for approval.
• For first time users, we simplified the login procedure.
• The iPad can be used in landscape mode, which is a must for users with integrated keyboards.
• 100+ other small enhancements, like the way you set the security level and priority in a request

One big new feature is the availability of dashboards to be shown on your iPhone/iPad. Under a new menu, option ‘Reports’ you can view all your SQL reports on you mobile IOS device. We still have several ideas how to make this feature even more powerful and are open for feedback by our users. Therefore we’ll make this functionality only available under a special sneak preview option for now.

How to get started with dashboards on your IOS app:

1. All the SQL Reports shown on your Exact Synergy Enterprise homepage are available on your IOS app as well. So before you start, make sure you have the reports available on your Exact Synergy Enterprise homepage.
2. It’s a sneak preview and you need to link the role ‘Sneak preview iPhone’ to your person card to get the dashboards available on your IOS app.
3. Your Exact Synergy installation must be up to date (update in October2011 or later) or the mobile server files are installed manually (read more about this here)
4. You are ready for the Action! Good luck and happy apping!

If you already use the Exact Synergy app for iPhone, you will be notified by the App Store to update the Exact Synergy App. If you are a new user, you can download the app here.

We are in the Android Market! After some months of hard work and dedication we are proud to introduce the Android app for Exact Synergy.

In last month’s blog post, I informed you what we are working on and what to be expected from the Android app. Now it’s your turn! Download the App NOW and let us know what you think about it. It’s free for Exact Synergy and Synergy Enterprise users! Don’t forget to tell all your colleagues, so they can also have it.

The Android app has about the same functionality as the iPhone 1.0 with several small enhancements in it. A selection of the available functionality and the requirements is shown below

Available functionality:

• Access to your workflow
• Manage your own schedule and view schedules of colleagues
• View, process, create or edit requests
• Access customers’ information and communications. Directly call or email them or plan your route
• Access basic colleague information and directly call or email them Book your expense claim by making a picture of your receipt. The expenses can be linked to a project or account
• Easily confirm and enter billable time which will directly enter the billing process
• Apply for your vacation

Requirements

For the app to work, you need to fulfill these requirements:

• Exact Synergy Enterprise (as of Product update 244) or Exact Synergy (as of version 397). You will have the best experience when you have updated your Synergy (Enterprise) environment October 2011 or later. If you want to do a manual installation, please follow these steps (log-in to Exact customer portal required).
• Android release 2.1 or above

The Android App is available for all user licenses in Exact Synergy Enterprise. In Exact Synergy it is available for professional users.

You are planning a meeting with a prospect. Once you set date and time, you plan the meeting in Outlook and invite the prospect at your office. Also 2 colleagues of you will join the meeting. Sounds simple, but if you want to register this visit in Exact Synergy Enterprise and link it to the prospect card, it is time consuming.

Calendar management is a simple feature that can help you with this. When you plan your meeting or appointment in MS Outlook, you can link the prospect in your Outlook appointment. When the appointment is created in MS Outlook, it will be synchronized to Synergy and the prospect will automatically be linked. Besides the account, you can also link a contact person or a project.

Since the introduction of the iPhone app last June, you were asking me time after time when we are ready with the Android App.

Well, let me tell you that last couple of months we have worked hard on the Android app, with the goal to build a native App with the same user experience as the iPhone app.

Looking to the first feedback from my colleagues at Exact who are already working with the Anroid App, it looks like that goal is achieved!

The Android App looks like the iPhone App, but in fact is a brand new product. It is nice to see how well the native Android behavior and navigation is appreciated by its users.

The Android app is almost ready now and we are running some final tests.

I expect to App to be available in the Android market within a month and I will update you via the blog.

As of this morning, Exact Synergy for Iphone and Ipad is available in the App Store. All Synergy users with an Exact Synergy environment (version 397+) or an Exact Synergy Enterprise environment (Product update 244+) can use this app for free. As of 7 October a new update is available.

As of 6 October also the Android app is available in the Android Market!

In order to use the App, you need to update your server installation to one of the versions mentioned above.

If you want to do a manual installation, please follow these steps (log-in to Exact customer portal required).

Good looking, great performance, easy to use: The Exact Synergy app for iPhone and iPad will be in the Appstore soon! (since June 2011 the App is available in the App Store)

Last couple of months I earned my salary by playing around with my iPhone. Sounds good, right! I have been working on the Exact Synergy app for iPhone and iPad. This week we uploaded the app to the Appstore which is now waiting for approval by Apple.

With the Exact Synergy app for iPhone and iPad we aim to deliver you the functionality you most frequently use or which comes in handy when you are not behind your desk. Think about managing your workflow, and creating new requests. You can view your accounts and click on the address to navigate to it. View your agenda, book your billable hour, enter your vacation request and directly see how many days will be deducted. And… file your expense claim, a process described already a while ago! The Synergy iPhone app offers you much more, but you can find this out for yourself pretty soon!

The Exact Synergy app for iPhone and iPad is free to use by all Synergy users and is available for both Exact Synergy (asp) (version 397+) and Exact Synergy Enterprise (PU 244+).

Synergy has a role based security model facilitated by assigning roles that include certain function rights which define what you can access and use. As of the Product Update 245 we have created a comprehensive documentation about each function role to support database administrator in his job to assign roles. As the administrator you will know exactly what each roles allows a user to do, so it’s easier to assign them, modify them or even create a new one that are tailored to your organization’s needs and requirements.
