Exact for Manufacturing innovation: Stage for delivery support in Smart Shop Floor

Once a product is finished on the shop floor we have to decide on its disposition: will we put it in stock, will we immediately deliver it to the customer, or will we stage for delivery until other products ordered at ready for shipment. Via the screens of Exact for Manufacturing all three options may be possible, but in Smart Shop Floor we can choose to stage for delivery or put into stock only.

Make to stock If we are receiving on a shop order that is not linked to a sales order we can only put our product into stock. The product will be received at a value equal to the cost price of the product (in case of standard costing), or at the projected cost price of the shop order (in case of average costing).   Make to order If we are receiving on a shop order that is linked to a sales order we have three possible dispositions available in Exact for Manufacturing, or two different dispositions in Smart Shop Floor:   Put into stock Available choice in both Exact for Manufacturing and in Smart Shop Floor. The product will be received at a value equal to the cost price of the product (in case of standard costing), or at the projected cost price of the shop order (in case of average costing), just as with make to stock.   Deliver Available only in Exact for Manufacturing. The product will be shipped to the customer under recognition of the cost of sales (cost of goods sold). The cost of sales will be equal to the projected cost price of the shop order, i.e. the cost price of the product as defined on the item master will not be used. It is optional in the delivery process to print a delivery note. We can also create a combined delivery of items produced and items from stock: see Enhancements to goods delivery for manufacturing.   Stage for delivery Available choice in both Exact for Manufacturing and in Smart Shop Floor. When we stage for delivery we report the product as finished, but we do not yet ship. The value of the product remains in the work in process until a delivery is made. An eventual delivery will create a cost of sales equal to the projected cost price of the shop order.   An overview of these options is shown in the diagram below: (Click for enlargement)   Enhancement to Smart Shop Floor When we finish a shop order linked to a sales order with Smart Shop Floor, we are provided with choices to stage for delivery (default) or put in stock. A toggle to change into a different disposition has been added: (Click for enlargement)   This innovation is available as of today for Smart Shop Floor material management.
