CRM App in Controlled Release soon! What makes it so fantastic?

Written by Martin Ortgiess on . Posted in Exact Synergy

Last week we introduced the CRM App at Exact Live. At this event I did a live demo on stage showing how fantastic this new App is. Visitors at this event also had the opportunity to play around with it them self, and the feedback we received is great!

At this moment we running the final tests and doing some last minute adjustment, as always. With this we are ready for the Controlled Release starting next month. Interesting to join the Controlled Release? Let me know via martin.ortgiess@exact.com

The first version of the CRM App will be available for iPhone and iPad. An Android version is planned for 2014.

What makes this App so fantastic?1. calendar-3.png

  1. With this App we set a new standard for our Mobile offering. We aim to deliver a look & feel and usability equal to popular consumer Apps. Today this is quite unique for business apps.
  2. The functionality of the CRM App is spot-on. Where the App is useful for a big audience, we focused on the account manager. For him this App needs to be excellent. User research showed us how an account manager is doing his job and which information is most important to him. This is what we used to build the CRM App.

An account manager is focused on closing his deals, that’s what he is paid for. The CRM App will support the account manager by closing as much deals as possible by helping him to manage his work as good as possible and to give him insight in the information important to him.  Some key features most important to the account manager are:

  • His agenda: where does he need to be tomorrow?
  • Managing his activities: What activities does he need to act on today?
  • Insight in account information: What has happened last two month at the account I will be visiting tomorrow?
  • Clear overview of his pending deals: Which deals are planned to be closed this month and which to I need to follow-up on today?

15 request-3 These are exactly those areas we focused on when developing this CRM App.

In an earlier blog post this year, I asked you what you would like to see in this new App. The feedback was enormous and become the most remarked blog post on the Exact product blog. It shows how important Mobile Apps are these days. From the features requested there, below is an overview of what we will offer in the first version of the CRM App. The improvements goes much further than this list only, but I think it’s fair to first react on your input. For which a big thanks to all of you.

Hey Martin, fantastic folding concentrated user experience into the new app. Nowadays many people have dumped their PC for an iPad in a virtual office and hardly anyone has a personal assistant. Further many visits are now ‘virtual visits’ requiring as much preparation and professionalism as an on site visit. Leaving an expectation when you are in the office you are actually available (even when you’re not). Could there be a virtual assistant to help send out reminders and answer calls and do basic assistant work. This might entail transcribing an urgent voicemail into an visit request. Sharing open calendar slots for the next week allowing scheduling a meeting w/o phone tag or back-and forth emails. Very simple things an assistant used to do done virtually. It sounds like something only Apple or Google can deliver but on a very focused app I think it’s doable because the user experience is a known experience. I learned @NuikuInc is developing such an assistant for SFDC. Well wishes.

Clive, hi there. How are you? Nice feedback and we will not go this far with our development with this App. However, we do have plans to better help users with managing their tasks and only show them when it is recent today!

    Martin,

We are Exact partner and we are very Microsoft minded. With that I mean the Microsoft Server OS, WIndows8, Office 365. Business wise this is the best. We do not prefer Android, as this is we think not so safe. Will there be a version for the Windows phone? Is that on your roadmap? Some of your colleagues at Exact live said there is no interest in the App for windows phone due to market share in Holland.

Hi Xander, It’s true that iOS and Android are most import phones for us to focus on. According to several external market researchers, the market share of these 2 platforms is over 95% in the business environment. Looking to the current Synergy apps we have in the Appstore, this number is also true for our customers. This does not say we are not looking to Windows Phone, but it will not have top priority

I do like Clive’s suggestions as always, but I would like to see an ‘Around Me’ feature for CRM users. Based on Mobile GPS, what customers, prospects or leads are Around Me?

Yes. “What customers, prospects or leads are Around Me”.

Imagine the account manager travels all the way to meet the customer and on arrival he or she is tied up in an emergency.

Curious if Exact has ability to integrate with SFDC at all? Have any customers attempted to do this and been successful?

Hallo Wim, this probably has to do with setting up your environment. Have you turned on the usage of webservice in System/webservices?
you need to check the checkbox in top of the right column. Please contact your partner to inform him. They should be able to further help you with this.

Martin, What about integration with the phone …
Eg.. client calls me we discuss business.
could you have it identify the contact that called if it is a customer/prospect then when the call ends it prompts you if you would like to log the call.

EG.. yes I want to log it. and you then can fill in a simple WF request notes talked with him about buying widgets next month. the request should auto fill account and contact info. then all that is needed is to fill in the follow up date.

is this functionality in place ? been a while since I last saw this…

      Hi Shawn,
Thanks for your input on the CRM app.
We have had some ideas of integrating contacts on your device with contacts in the Synergy system, but not included this in the app (yet).
We will take this suggestion into account when developing the CRM further!

Will there be a possibility to directly store emails in customer documents in this app?

      Hi Marc,
We have plans to have a better integration between the device and the CRM app. One of the (known) wishes is indeed to store emails in Synergy. We already have some experience in storing email attachments into Synergy and will have to look into the possibilities to store the complete email. Hopefully we can bring this functionality soon to the app!
