The CRM user turning into a big boy

The CRM user turning into a big boy

A lot of our customers use the CRM user, a user license role which offers you a lot of functionality against a good price.

The number of companies using the CRM user in their license grows rapidly. With these new customers on board, we’ve received a lot of valuable feedback on how the CRM users is being used in daily business. It opens up opportunities to even further improve the CRM user. So, we did!

As of Exact Synergy Enterprise product update 248 (General available January 2012) the CRM user will have full functionality available in the CRM (customer) module. In this module the CRM user will have the same functionality available as the professional user . This means that:

- All accounts, opportunities and quotations are visible, based on the rights set in the system.
- All account types can be created and maintained, based on the rights set in the system

Function rights are used to give a user more functionality. Over a 60 function rights are available for the CRM user, which will give him additional privileges, like sending a mailing to a group of customers and edit all opportunities within his group.

Other improvements are:

- View all requests on all places where the user has access. An example is that the CRM user can view the workflow of his colleagues and view all requests that are linked to a project.
- Delegate your work when you are out of the office.
- As of product update 249 we will introduce a possibility for a CRM user to view all projects or only the projects of which he is a member.

Is the limitation of 15 request-types also historie. Thats the limitation we have reached and set us back on redesigning some workflows?

To get it clear for me: does that mean that users with a CRM role can change all account information on the account card?

The limitation of 15 workflows would be ok, if all the workflows associated with opportunities are not in that 15? Is that the case?? If a customer has 2-3 sales cycles, CRM users cannot see all the workflows or work those opportunties.

Thank you for your answer Martin,

Would be great to see theCRM system role extension: otherwise the professional role was the only (expensive) way to do so.

One question still: for some account managers with the CRM systemrol, I like the restriction that they can’t edit account information. Can I still restrict them if they’ve got the CRM system role, especially since it seems impossible to edit function rights for these system roles?

I’m asking this, since within 2 months’, I have to make a decision about our current and future license.

    Thanks in advance!

Hi Stephan, in PU248 we restricted to link 64 predefined (61 CRM + 2 Financial + 1 Logistics) function rights to a user with the CRM role. This means for now that if you want restrict users with the CRM role to edit account information you should use one of these 64 predefined function rights.

Sorry for the late reply Sunil, it seems that I can’t get notified if there’s a new comment.

I’m not an expert on functon rights, so will have a look at the function rights and how to restrict CRM users to edit account information.

@Stephan, you can check the Roles & rights section in this document. This gives you a general overview how users are restricted to edit account information. When you click on the “Edit” button on an account card, secondly on the “Customize” icon followed by clicking the “Advanced” button you can determine which field (account information) is mandatory, visible and/or editable for users. You can link function rights to a field so that the user needs to have that function right in order to e.g. edit the field.

            Last question Sunil:
How does this restriction works in relation to the Synergy Entreprise iPhone app?

I also want to restrict some users to edit account information within the app.

            Looking forward to your reply!

Kenneth, the requests for opportunity management are included in the 15 requests. Currently we are working on some plans to have opportunity management work in a different way which is not fully dependent on requests
