Exact Integration – What’s going on?

Written by Michiel Dorjee on . Posted in Exact Globe, Exact Synergy

Hi all,

It has been around 2 months now that Exact Integration has been released. I am sure you are curious to know what we have been doing in the past 2 months and what our plans are for the near future.

In the recently released Exact Synergy Enterprise 247 we have focused on our customer feedback, but we also implemented some new features.

We have created a monitor that watches your services on your server. So that you don’t get surprises that data is not synchronized because one of your services isn’t running.

As of release 247 it is now possible to restore your database and the databases will be synchronized. In order to realize this, a new service will be installed on your server, the Exact Service Monitor. This service will check your Exact Globe and Exact Synergy Enterprise database as you have defined in your configuration screen.
In your configuration screen you can set the interval (in minutes) on which this service checks for a restore.
This service requires the user credentials given in the configuration since it needs access to your server and database.
However, we were not able to apply restoring of database over a batch update, so it’s very important that you always have a recent back-up of your database.

Furthermore we have provided a small matrix that shows you on what release of Exact Synergy Enterprise and Exact Globe, Exact Integration is supported and what version of Exact Integration you are currently using. This link is available in your startup menu in Windows, as well as in your configuration screen.

On a technical level, all services needed for Exact Integration are now deployed through Exact Synergy Enterprise and Exact Globe installation.

For the coming releases we have plans to merge Central Master Data Management and Exact Integration into one solution, this will enable you to have the extra functionality of Central Master Data Management as well as all the benefits of Exact Integration.

As result, we will be releasing more and more entities on a scenario of multiple databases in the coming year.

Should you have any questions about this solution, do not hesitate to contact me at ruud.aalders@exact.com or add comments to this post.

    Hi Ruud

“We have created a monitor that watches your services on your server. So that you don’t get surprises that data is not synchronized because one of your services isn’t running.”

    Where can this be found?

      Hi,

When you call up your services screen, you will see a new service has been added. The “Exact Service Monitor”. This service runs on your server and all this does is checking whether your synchronization services are still running. If they have stopped, this service will restart them.

    Hi Ruud

We are using Synergy Integrator but have many issues with recoding accounts from Globe – when will this functionality be supported?

Also have you come across this issue?

    Create a Lead in Synergy
When the account is created in Globe create a quotation
The account type changes from Lead to Prospect in Globe but in Synergy no change occurs?

Your feedback will be very much appriciated

      Dear Joel,

We had the same problems with recoding accounts in regard to the Exact integrator: it was advised to us to stop recoding accounts.

      Hi Joel,

We are not supporting recoding/merging yet. Currently we are developing the services in order to get these processes done.

I expect that sometime this year we will support it.

For the change in account type, I have not encountered it, but of course there could be a bug in there. I will investigate this.

In case synchronization failed between a Globe and a Synergy db for whatever reason, what’s the tool to re-start the syncing from db A to db B as from a particular date/time?

    Hi Ronald,

In the installation of you Exact Integration the tool SendToQueue is supplied. With this tool you can resend data from a certain point in time.

Its not a case that its fails, its just not working when an account in Globe is updated following a quotation being linked. We have to go into the account in Globe and save the record so that Synergy gets updated. This is a bug in my opinion.

    Another issue I encounter:
free fields are not being synchronized by the integrator.

We just switched to Synergy Enterprise, and thought that all data would be synchronized. That does not seem to be the case, so my question:

How can we synchronize free fields between Synergy Enterprise and Globe?

This is really a step back, compared to the consolidated scenario, especially for current Exact customers. I am looking forward to your reply.

    Hi Stephan,

I have checked with my development team and free fields should be synchronized. They also ran a small test and concluded that they are synchronized.

Could it be that there is something else going wrong in your situation? Maybe you can check the monitor and/or the error log.

    Ruud.
