Product update 245: new features and look for Mobile Synergy
Posted on 14. Dec, 2010 by Martin Ortgiess in Exact Synergy
With product update 245 you can expect some new features and improved look and feel for Mobile Synergy.
Mobile Synergy is introduced early 2010 and is popular since. It is a light Synergy environment that you can run on your mobile phone. We used your feedback for the further development of the new features and design of Mobile Synergy.
New features and adjustments user interface
To make it easier for you, Mobile Synergy remembers your credentials, so you do not need to enter your username and password every time you want to use it. When you are on the road you can easily manage requests in your workflow, to realize, approve or reject them. Additionally instead of sending an email with important information, you can simply create a note which will appear in your or in your colleague’s workflow. On a way to a meeting with a customer you can check documents and opportunities on a specific account card, to get a full picture on what is happening at the customer site. Next to these new features, we have improved the user interface, to support you in your business operations when you are on a way. We adjusted the ‘add remarks’ field in a request and we introduced labels to differentiate documents from requests and opportunities at the account card.

Great improvements,
There is just one thing I, and all the users I have met do not understand, there is no agenda in the Mobile interface.
I know the idea once was that the workflow 7 days should replace the agenda but that only works if you take one false assumption into account. The assumption is that you keep these items in your workflow. I never do that, it’s in my schedule so don’t need it in my workflow.
The reason for needing it is an easy way to call a customer that you are late for an appointment or startup google maps to navigate (with Android) to the customer with the agenda as a starting point.
Please add this simple part, it would improve usability a lot.
Don’t get me wrong, the improvements are great, we are getting somwhere!

Hi Barry,
I promise you we will do something about in the next product update (=246). I agree with you that the 7 days overview did not work out the way we planned it.

I like that you can advance the workflows and the renamed labels show up. When you ‘Add Note’, is that always a Check Task or can you choose what workflow type?

Robert, the Add note will always create a Task and you are not able to adjust that. Nice detail: when you create a Note from the account card, the account will be automatically linked.

Martin,
Do you have a guide to install it on a BlackBerry phone? Because I cannot set this right. No right will occur in the screen.

Hi bauke,
Mobile Synergy is not installed on your mobile phone. A user in Synergy needs to be linked to the role ‘Mobile’. If that is set, he should be able to use his mobile phone to access Mobile Synergy.

No need to do an installation. Open your normal web address on your phone and you will be redirected to Mobile Synergy.
